For more than 7 years Hand2Mouth Theatre has been thinking and dreaming of a project inspired by the musical legacy and remarkable songwriting of Portland legend Elliott Smith. Finally, with great joy, its time to announce our co-production with Third Angle New Music is just around the corner. A Fond Farewell is the last piece in our Portland Trilogy; new works that celebrate three of Portland's greatest artists. It began with Ursula K. Le Guin, went through Old Portland to meet with Gus Van Sant and finds a conclusion in the music of Elliott Smith, next month.
Be sure to learn more about what exactly this new artform is that we will be unveiling; the 'Composed Concert', and help us spread the word, there are only two shows after all this work. And if you can, please help us with the last piece of fundraising by checking out our kickstarter for the project.
We are seeking community support and energy to meet the $7500 of our funding needs; to pay for the venue, artists fees, costuming and high-end lighting. Your support also allows us to hire teens as interns, in partnership with homeless provider Outside In, and donate tickets to community partners.
We have put together an incredible lineup of donation rewards to share with you in appreciation for your support. Items include: film screening tickets, Liberty CBD products, CDs and LPs of the music from the production, and much more!
It’s only together, that we will create this one-of-a-kind event; staging bold interpretations of Smith’s greatest songs to celebrate a unique Portland icon.
