We are thrilled to announce our final show of the season, UNIVERSO, premiering this summer. A multimedia concert featuring original Spanish language electro-pop songs, UNIVERSO is inspired by the coming of age story of Joaquin Lopez who found solace in electro-pop dance music as a teenager who came out in 1989.
In his own words:
"I wanted to create an album that reflected the sounds I embraced during my coming of age when I came out in 1989 when I was fourteen. I was inspired by the artists that I turned to for solace: Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, Madonna, George Michael, and Depeche Mode. With this show I am celebrating the queer Latino boy in me who is finally opening his wings and allowing himself to fly.The story I wanna tell on stage is one of transformation and resilience. This is not just my story, but this is everyone's story who's ever tried to belong, be loved, and feel they are part of the world."
Mark your calendars for pride on the dance floor. Performances and parties are coming this summer. Please support Joaquin's project today and visit his kickstarter page.
