2026 Cast Bios

Dylan Hankins studied World Languages at Lewis & Clark College (’20) and devised theatre with PETE’s Institute for Contemporary Performance (’21). He wrote, directed, and acted in (de)composition, S p r a w l (CoHo theatre), and FAENA (PETE Presents). Acting credits include Spear (Corrib), Banned (H2M), Merchant of Venice(Portland Shakes), Parallax View (H2M), Alarums and Excursions (Fertile Ground)  and Chekhov! 3 Farces  (21ten). Maia McCarthy is an actor, deviser and teaching artist who seeks to use theatre arts and live performance to make places where we can be a little more human together, expand our capacity for intellectual understanding beyond our brains into our whole bodies, ask a tremendous amount of ourselves and each other and then extend each other that same tremendous amount of grace- all while telling a kick-ass story!

In addition to HOME/LAND Maia has worked with H2M in their 24-hour devising festivals and in 2026 their solo piece Assessment Tools debuted in the New2You festival of new works. The role of the Drowned Woman is one of their favorites.

Nurys Herrera (Creator/Performer) is a Peruvian-born actress, performer, and a writer based in Portland, Oregon. She has performed on stages across the Portland area for more than 20 years. Nurys was recently seen in Hand2Mouth's New2You Festival with her solo show System Check. She also appeared in Memento Mori and Home/Land (2024). 'Even after leaving home, part of us is always searching for the place where our story began.'

Danny Walker (He/They): Danny is an actor, playwright and devising artist based in Portland, and is elated to be back with Home/Land for a second time. He holds a BFA in Acting from Southern Oregon University '14. While living in LA, he co-founded Performing Arts Collective of Los Angeles, acting as Artistic Director from 2016-2021. Recent credits include: Macduff in Macbeth (Experience Theater Project); Jamie in Last Five Years (Compass Productions); Steve in A Streetcar Named Desire, Ensemble in Salome (Imago Theatre); and Bert in It’s A Wonderful Life (Stumptown Stages). His original play, Wasted, was produced at Fertile Ground April 2026. Upcoming is Tour De Force Productions' new play Live in 3,2,1 this October.

Pedro Adan Dominguez [They/He] - Originally from Texas, Pedro found themselves dissociating (as one does) at the gamestop they worked, and decided to uproot their life to be in an acting apprenticeship at the Portland Playhouse. Since then, they stayed in Portland to create art with their friends, read a couple books, play a couple video games, and try to live their best life. They can be found petting the nearest animal, probably. Previous acting credits include H2M’s BANNED, Memento Mori and 24H2M Festival; Blood Wedding’s The Moon at Shaking The Tree; a reading of Terco Corazón at Centro Cultural; in the short film, Dearest Eva, as chaotic bisexual, Carlos; and has been in multiple readings for Pulp Stage. Stage Management credits include We Wrote This With You In Mind and In a Different Reality She’s Clawing at the Walls. Writing Credits include Kryptic Film’s The Lost Ones: The Case of Mire Falls, thought-o-vision, their ongoing solo show, the Fun-Raiser (to stop the end of the world), and more secret ones! Jenni GreenMiller first worked with Hand2Mouth as a performer in Time, A Fair Hustler and as a performer and co-creator in Psychic Utopia. She has a BA from Portland State University, is a graduate of the Portland Actors Conservatory and has trained with Anne Bogart's SITI Company in Syracuse, NY and with Burning Wheel in L.A. She was an ensemble member with Sowelu Theatre Company, toured with Brainwaves Improv, and has performed locally at Artist Repertory Theatre, Fuse Theatre Ensemble, Triangle theatre Co., Lakewood Theatre, Curious Comedy, and Lunacy. Currently, she is submitting the hell out of her plays and is a playwright for theatre for Change, a youth restorative justice program.

Michael Cavazos is a Queer Chicanx theatre maker and the Artistic Director of Hand2Mouth Theatre. Before moving to Portland, they were a member of the comedy troupe Gender Offenders and performed on many NYC stages. In Portland, Michael has worked with Imago, Crave, Profile, Portland Playhouse, Portland Revels, and Portland Center Stage. As a teaching artist, they have taught in Egypt, Serbia, and the Dominican Republic. In 2021 Michael received the Oregon Arts Commission Individual Artist Fellowship. He was the festival director for H2M’s recent New2You Festival and 24H2M, a 24-hour devising festival. He directed Hand2Mouth’s BANNED, Momento Mori, and Universo.

Alyssa Marie Mathews (she/her) is a puppeteer, theatre maker, and all-around artist in Portland, OR. She is the Managing Director for the R-rated horror/comedy/sci-fi/rock musical puppet troupe, Puppeteers For Fears, which will be touring nationally with their show, Robopocalypse: The Musical. Though she mainly works with puppets nowadays, she's been involved with Home/Land for a few years and it holds a very special place in her heart, so she's happy to be back! Alyssa holds an MA degree in Puppet Arts from the University of Connecticut and a BFA in Acting with minors in Studio Arts and Shakespeare Studies from Southern Oregon University.

Natty Arroyave is a Colombian performing artist and company member with Hand2Mouth Theatre. She recently performed in Theatre in the Grove’s Mojada: A Medea in Los Angeles and at the Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre in Egypt in Y Recuerda Tichangoshaina… An Encounter of Cultures, a co-creation with Zimbabwean artist Lonesome Tapiwa, produced by Hand2Mouth Theatre. @natty.arroyave

Gabriel Reyes is a graduate of Lewis & Clark's theater program who currently works as a performing artist in Portland. He's very excited to be joining Hand2Mouth for the second time after working the New2You festival as a production assistant. Other recent credits include Alarums & Excursions and Faena by Dylan Hankins and ISABEL with Theatre Diaspora.

Orion Ellis (they/he) is a hodge-podge sort of artist, born and raised in Portland, OR. He has been published in Hope is a Stem: 2023 WITS Anthology and has had work performed in the Portland Center Stage's Youth Play-writing Showcase.  In terms of theatre, they have been involved in Roosevelt High School Drama Club, as well as a member (both ensemble and director) of Hand2Mouth's Youth Devising Residency, for the past four years. They will be going to Oberlin College in August, but his favorite bridge will always be the Steel. Going from an audience member to part of the run crew, Orion is so excited to be a part of HOME/LAND!
