This is the first in a series of public workshops and listening circles to explore Hand2Mouth’s 26/27 season theme: Versus. You do not need to be an artist to participate!

About the workshop:

Through theatre and public dialogue, this workshop will explore Hand2Mouth’s 26/27 Season Versus.

Versus means "against" or "in comparison with". It shows opposition, competition, or a choice between two alternatives.

Beyond divisiveness, many of us experience damage- in our friendships, beliefs, identities, and every day sense of peace.

The workshop uses civic dialogue and creative practices to explore the polarization, fracturing, and impact of opposing views. Participants will explore how conflict, polarization, and political decisions, and narratives of fear reshape our ordinary lives.

This workshop invites people from different backgrounds to consider questions like:

  • What tribes are you part of?

  • Have you ever been at odds with a close friend or family member regarding a social, cultural or political issue?

  • What rhetoric do you hear often that challenges your own ideas?

  • How does intersectionality challenge expectations?

This workshop aims to build a collective narrative of lived experiences through writing, listening, interview, and artistic exploration.

We invite artists, educators, students, community members, and institutions to join this conversation; to listen, reflect, and contribute to redefining what “versus” means from the perspective of the people who live it.

Be a part of our season!
